Activities for Teambuilding |
|
"A team building activity is not just an event that happen offsite, but a constant process that takes place within the team over a long period of time." A team building activity is not just an event that happen offsite, but a constant process that takes place within the team over a long period of time.
In choosing great team building activities, make sure the objectives must match current issues in the organization. Consider the following factors:
- Is the activity going to give you the result that you want? Are all members of team going to participate? Do not force them or else the activity will be a flop.
- Will you be able to find the appropriate venue, with the available time and budget that you have?
- Ensure that there are no physical risks involved. There should be a 'qualified instructor' and provide insurance, especially on extreme outdoor activities. Do not choose those who only give out waivers for liability for you to sign.
- Make sure there are no psychological risks involved. All members should be treated with respect, as equals and there should be no unnecessary humiliation or achieving fun at the expense of others. The activity should be something that won’t stir anger between members and others will feel excluded. Conflicts should be managed constructively.
- Should it build trust and openness among team members? If something goes wrong, do you have contingency plans?
