A Guide on How to Update Your Resume E-mail
How to Update Your ResumeUpdating you resume doesn't simply apply to people who are currently looking for work. The updating of resumes is also important to people that are currently employed too. Try to see if you can get your hands on a copy of your latest resume, this is assuming you still remember where you filed it on your hard drive.

Now, try to check if it contains you recent job, if you're employed, or you last job if not. Also check if your details and number are correct, maybe you still have your old address and numbers. It is important to update the information to your latest ones. See if it contains your new email address or mobile number, contact information is important when updating a resume.

As for accomplishments, hopefully you took note of all the accomplishments you've achieved at your current job or your previous one. It important that you include the most recent accomplishments and you could remove some minor ones that you did ten or more years ago.

If your resume is four pages long including your recent job then maybe it is time to do a little editing, you may want to remove some irrelevant information, like that menial community work you might have done in high school, or that seminar you took while you were unemployed, just make sure that what you are removing will not hurt your overall hire-ability.

What new skills have you learned recently? Maybe you were recently trained in a new computer language, or you're now proficient in using new software. You could also include recent certificates, or seminars you've been to. Whatever it is, as long as you think it's relevant then include it on your resume update.

Don't forget to place recent awards you've received, commendations or even awards of appreciation for a service you've rendered. This helps out a lot, because recent achievements are easily validated.

If you are working for a specific field or industry, the try to rewrite your resume so that it is more targeted at a specific field or profession. Avoid placing job experiences that are not relevant or ones that are more than ten years ago, this only results in confusing the reader and makes your resume cluttered, you might even look too expensive to potential employer due to your experiences or you might become victim to age discrimination, which is sadly still practiced today.

Updating a resume is not just about adding new things, but more on filtering and editing. It is like refreshing your image and value as an employee. It's about accumulating all your worth and writing it on paper for employers to see, for them to know what you are capable of and what you can offer their company.

It is good practice to update a resume from time to time; this keeps you on track for your chosen career path, and up to date on your capabilities and value. Once you have done these things then you'll be ready and armed to take on any new opportunity that comes by.
